When it comes to looking after our dogs ears we all want to ensure that we’re doing the right thing. Our dogs are considered part of the family and caring for them is taken a seriously as one of our children. Caring for dogs ears is sometimes not done routinely, they can’t talk to us and tell us if there is something wrong, that the dog has an ear infection or the dog is scratching it’s ears all the time. We can only work off what we see and need to be on the lookout for signs that there could be an ear problem happening.
Does My Dog Have An Ear Infection?
Most dogs will get an infection of the outer ear around 90% of the time (as opposed to an inner ear infection) which can be caused by many different factors, just because your dog is scratching at it’s ear, doesn’t mean that he automatically has an ear infection.
Some of the main causes of a dogs ear problems are:
- Ear Mites
- Allergies
- Wax Build Up
- Long Hair Blocking Air Flow/Passage
- Debris Stuck Inside The Ear
